The Comprehensive Setup is named for my detailed attention and time with your instrument. The Comprehensive Setup is indeed no ordinary setup. I do not do "assembly-line" style work. I play your instrument, listen to it, savor its "vibe," allow it to acclimatize to my environment, take all pre-setup measurements, consider all aspects of a proper setup specifically for your instrument, and begin the setup. Once the work is finished, I return to the guitar many times while in my possession to keep it at the pitch, gently break in the strings (stretch strings), and make more adjustments over time as the instrument settles into its new setup. I provide pre-and post-setup measurement documentation and checklist to you.

• Strobe Intonation adjustment (if needed) plus or minus 5 cents with existing saddle, if there is enough saddle material to do so.

​

• Straighten neck for pre-setup fret measurement and spot leveling, if needed.

​

• Block dress.

​

• File down any fret tangs if protruding after block dress.

​

• Bevel fret ends to 23° & 3°​

​

• Fully Dress fret ends.

• Radius saddle to the fretboard radius (Classical Guitars can have a fingerboard radius from 16" to 25").

 

• Spot leveling up to eight (8) frets included. 5$ per additional frets. (If more extensive leveling is needed, I will speak with you first).

• Spot leveled frets re-crowned.

 

• Fret Polishing to a High Luster (please see Regarding Frets).

• Saddle height adjustment for optimal action (if needed).

Serious intonation issues on Classical Guitars will probably require a compensated nut, saddle,

• Complete measurements, evaluation, and documentation of your instrument. A full accounting of all measurements pre- and post-completion. This includes, but is not limited to, String height action at the 12th fret, nut height, nut width, nut slot height/ depth at the first fret for each string, fingerboard & saddle radius, string tension, string spacing at nut and bridge, All other specs and provenance of the instrument (if available) with paperwork provided.
